As many of you know, I have rolled back my version of Beme to a previous version to improve the horrific bug that came with the 1.0.25 version. Accordoing to the Play Store, the .25 version was intended to fix a video squishing issue. I'm assuming that some users were experiencing this? I never did. Until, that is, I updated to this version. I looked like a cone head when I reviewed my Bemes. My video looked wavy, especially when the sky was in view or the ground - like my camera had a hard time focusing.
While not having any video or picture image quality issues on other Apps, I was having the issue with Beme.
There have been many theories the Beme Community Forum family has come up with, but none of them have been responded to by Beme. We have contacted on several occassions. We know their developers are working hard on the issue, but it is clear, there is no QA process in place when they send the Android versions out.
Keep in mind, each device is different - each camera is different in specs.
Many of you know, I am a Google Nexus fanboy. I am running a Nexus 6P. The camera and other specs are better than most flagship phones currently offered. In short, it is a great phone - I don't think the issue is on my end. I also have unlimited data on AT&T. Coverage is fantastic. I made the decision to roll my app back to validate it was something in the build of the app. Low and behold, I'm back in the saddle with good video quality.
It begs the question: is it a compression issue? Is it simply from them trying to alter resolution to fix (squished videos - that were never squished on my end)? I don't think we'll ever know.
If you want to try this solution yourself, DJ Morley found in search the APKs and was kind enough to send them to me. All can be found by this URL (they update it when a new APK is available) www.apk4fun.com/apk/88633/
The 1.0.25 version is a bad version in my opinion - scroll down to the bottom of the page for the others.
Verdicts:
1.0.24 - Ok by Joseph.K but not for other folks - this is the fix version for the burn in screen issue
1.0.23 - Ok by Joseph.K and ok for others who've done the same - this version is pre-screen burn in fix
Things to know for those that have never "sideloaded" an APK:
You cannot download these files until you uninstall your current version, and you must find in your phones settings (often in Security) the setting to allow for installation of APKs from locations other than the Play Store. Once you turn that setting on to enable downloads from other places, you should be all set to download the file from the above URL and install.
Other things to know: once you install the older version, Google Play will know this, and you might see the store attempt to update your app if it is set to auto-update your apps. You will probably need to disable auto-updates to avoid going back to 1.0.25. This will become a pain and unsustainable for me in the long run if they do not create a fix soon.
Good luck! Let me know if you have questions - if you have problems while in the process, get me on facebook messenger for a quicker response.
